A Cape May hotel restaurant known for its farm-to-table menu and history has been ranked among the top 100 best hotel restaurants in the country, according to a list assembled by OpenTable.
The Ebbitt Room inside the Virginia Hotel on Jackson Street in Cape May's historic district has been recognized for its modern take on classic American cuisine with dishes featuring fresh ingredients from its own Beach Plum Farm.
In addition to à la carte menu selections, the restaurant offers a prix fixe menu each night that allows guests to select from among seasonal specialty dishes. According to an OpenTable description of The Ebbitt Room, the establishment's curated wine list is recognized by Wine Spectator for its global selections, as well as boutique and cult producers.
The recognition follows on the heels of new research from OpenTable and travel search engine KAYAK that reported how hotel dining connects with guests' travel experiences. According to a NorthJersey.com report, 73% of Americans say they would reserve the same lodging establishment because of the positive dining experience they had at the hotel. Close to 47% said they plan their trips around visiting a restaurant.
The Ebbitt Room's nomination among the top 100 hotel restaurants in the United States points to a broader trend among travelers. Approximately 58% of Americans feel that hotel restaurant offerings have been enhanced over the past several years. Survey respondents referenced better food quality, a more inviting atmosphere, and attentive service as their reasons.
