After a career in news spanning close to three decades, longtime NBC10 anchor and reporter Tracy Davidson will depart the station later this fall to focus full time on public speaking.
Davidson shared the announcement with viewers on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
“Journalists are taught early on that covering the news is not about us,” she said. “I'm coming up on 30 years here at NBC10. It has truly been the honor of my life to serve you and tell your stories. I've had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented and dedicated professionals, and being part of a community I deeply love.
“I have decided to take my next step and pivot to full-time public speaking,” she continued. “For more than 10 years, I've been leading personal development workshops for women and speaking to business professionals across the region and the country about resilience, leadership, listening, faith, and focus. In recent years, demand for this side of my work has surged, and it feeds my soul and allows me to continue serving others in a new way.”
Davidson ended her announcement by thanking viewers for their support and trust over the years.
Davidson first joined NBC10 in Philadelphia in March 1996 and has served as a weekday anchor and consumer reporter for NBC10 Responds.
She has received multiple honors throughout her career in broadcasting, including the Best News Anchor Emmy for the Mid-Atlantic Region in 2008 and 2013. In 2013, Temple University honored her with the Lew Klein Alumni in Media Award. She was also recognized with Pennsylvania's Most Powerful and Influential Women Award by the National and Pennsylvania Diversity Council.
In 2014, Davidson was inducted into Philadelphia's Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame. In 2017, she received the “Hero Award” from the Montgomery Child Advocacy Project.
Davidson co-hosts a biannual day for women, “Lifting Your Voice,” which aims to connect, educate, and empower women by helping them build skills of confidence and resilience.
