For the first time in its history, AEW is establishing a residency at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. The venue, known by fans across the world as the former ECW Arena, will host AEW Dynamite on Aug. 27 and ROH Death Before Dishonor on Aug. 29.

According to Wrestlingattitude.com, the AEW's full residency in the City of Brotherly Love recognizes the city's wrestling heritage while broadening the brand's footprint.

"AEW's roster is stacked with talent capable of delivering high-octane performances that resonate with Philly's passionate fan base," according to the website. "The residency is also a logistical feat, allowing the promotion to transform the 2300 Arena into a showcase of storytelling, athleticism, and spectacle."

AEW Dynamite on Aug. 27

The Aug. 27 edition of AEW Dynamite is expected to rock the 2300 Arena with the thrill of competition amid high-stakes rivalries. Although details about the full card have not been released, crowds can expect AEW's top performers to raise the stakes for the matchups in Philly.

ROH Death Before Dishonor on Aug. 29

The ROH Death Before Dishonor premier event will feature a headline bout, Bandido vs. Hechicero, for the ROH World Championship. Audiences can expect a "lucha libre flair and technical mastery," according to Wrestlingattitude.com. "Bandido's high-flying arsenal meets Hechicero's cunning grappling, making this a must-watch encounter."

Bandido is the fan-favorite champion for the match, although Hechicero won't be giving up the fight thanks to his veteran experience and alacrity for bending the boundaries of competition.

"The clash of styles guarantees drama from bell to bell," the site notes.

As for the future of AEW's residency program, the week in Philadelphia will determine whether AEW considers markets such as Atlanta, Chicago, or New York for future multi-show residencies.
