The Burlington County Animal Shelter is seeking a few dedicated individuals to help rescue cats and dogs in need of new homes.
On Saturday, Aug. 30, from noon to 4 p.m., the shelter will hold a superhero-themed open house to connect visitors with adoptable pets. All adoption fees will be waived for animals a year or older.
The family-friendly event will also include Kona Ice for guests, hero-themed games and activities for children, and information provided on responsible pet ownership from the shelter's staff and volunteers.
The open house is supported by Burlington County, in collaboration with the Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter, to raise awareness about the shelter's mission and help adoptable pets find new, loving families.
“You don't need to be Superman or Wonder Woman to become a hero to the many dogs and cats at the shelter,” said Burlington County Commissioner Tyler Burrell, the liaison to the animal shelter, to The Trentonian. “You just need to open your heart and help them find a loving home and family. Those who do adopt will be rewarded with a loyal and loving companion.”
Look for more information about the pets available for adoption on the shelter's website.
Animal lovers can also foster animals, volunteer their time to assist the shelter, or make financial donations or gifts to support the shelter's needs. To view a wish list of items, visit the shelter's donation wish list webpage on its website.
The Burlington County Animal Shelter is at 35 Academy Drive in Westampton.
