It's been 10 years since Philadelphia hopefuls aiming to secure a spot on America's most popular game show have had an opportunity to spin the big wheel. The wait is over, as Wheel of Fortune has announced it is searching for contestants in Philadelphia next month.
A team of producers for the beloved game show will be at the Event Center in Rivers Casino Philadelphia, 1001 N. Delaware Ave., on Thursday, Sept. 18, and Friday, Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., seeking contestants for upcoming episodes, Action News 6 announced on Monday, Aug. 25. Participants can get in line as early as 10 a.m. to try out.
According to producers, contestant hopefuls must be at least 21 years old to participate in the free audition process. During the audition, attendees will have the chance to win prizes while meeting with producers for a chance to appear on the show.
Individuals will be given 30 seconds to introduce themselves to a member of the show's casting team, according to the Wheel of Fortune website. Producers will contact a select group of hopefuls at a later date.
The City of Brotherly Love is hosting one of the only live castings that producers will conduct nationwide, the show's spokespeople said in a statement. The last time Wheel of Fortune hosted in-person auditions in Philadelphia was in the fall of 2015, according to Action News 6.
"Wheel of Fortune is an entertainment and pop culture icon," said Scott Lokke, general manager of Rivers Casino Philadelphia, told PhillyVoice. "Now, fans will have the chance to go from their living rooms to the Los Angeles studio to spin that famous wheel and win cash and prizes. Rivers is thrilled to host this unique opportunity for Philly."
Wheel of Fortune airs on ABC 6 Philadelphia weeknights at 7:30 p.m.
