Explore the flavors and cultural traditions of Korea during the Kimchi Festival at Philadelphia's LOVE Park on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27–28, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will encourage guests to discover the country's art, culture, and cuisine. Activities will include interactive workshops and live musical performances.
The workshops will invite attendees to try their hand at making kimchi; learn traditional Korean folk games such as jegichagi, ttakjichigi, and yutnori; and create calligraphy.
A cultural marketplace will surround festivalgoers with the sights, sounds, and flavors of Korean arts, crafts, and cuisine. A fan-folding station will allow attendees to create unique keepsakes.
Performances will celebrate the diversity of Korean culture with traditional dances, taekwondo demonstrations, K-pop routines, hanbok fashion shows, and Korean-inspired jazz music.
According to the Kimchi Festival website, organizers are dedicated not only to sharing delicious Korean food but also supporting the future of the Philadelphia community.
"We believe that food is the best tool to bring people together and to understand and communicate with each other," organizers said.
LOVE Park is at 16th Street and JFK Boulevard in Philadelphia.
