Wawa has opened a new convenience store on the Villanova University campus. The store on the suburban Philadelphia university campus includes customer-favorite Wawa items such as hoagies, coffee, and more.
“We've officially opened at Villanova University, bringing our [next-generation] design into the Connelly Center renovation just in time to welcome students back,” said Adrian Cortes, manager of architectural design at Wawa, in a post on Thursday, Aug. 21, on LinkedIn. “Even more exciting, this store introduces the Wawa brand and offer to many students who may be experiencing this East Coast favorite for the first time!”
The Wawa is located on the lower level of Villanova's Connelly Center. This 67,000-square-foot building includes an art gallery, coffee shop, dining facility, ice cream shop, lounges, and meeting rooms, according to the university's website.
Besides cash and credit options, the Wawa at Villanova will also accept points and Nova Bucks, a debit account available to Villanova students. It, however, will not accept funds for the university's MPE or meal plans.
According to a CSP report, Wawa President and CEO Chris Gheysens graduated from Villanova School of Business in 1993.
Wawa's opening on the Villanova campus isn't the first time the popular convenience store franchise has established a presence on a college campus. The company opened an all-digital store in August 2023 at Drexel University in Philadelphia.
