TED, founded in 1984, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that operates at the convergence of technology, entertainment, and design (TED). TEDx events, which are independently organized under TED's guidance, aim to promote deep discussion and community connection through TED Talks videos and live speakers.

In addition to the TED Talks curated from the organization's annual conferences and published on TED.com, TED organizers create original podcasts, short video series, animated educational lessons (TED-Ed), and TV programs that are translated into more than 100 languages and distributed via partnerships worldwide.

To date, approximately 10 million people have witnessed TEDxCapeMay talks, according to The New Jersey Stage.

TEDxCape May sponsors include the Cape May Brewing Co., Cape Resorts Realty Group, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May, the Congress Hall Hotel, Damascus Bakeries, Exit Zero Publishing, Midnight Media Group, and One Trick Pony.
