Nike is opening its first U.S. flagship store for Jordan Brand's World of Flight in Philadelphia, set to debut on Friday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. The new store will be housed in a historic 7,000-square-foot, two-story building at 1617 Walnut St. in Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square neighborhood.

According to a statement from Nike, the grand opening will feature a community block party at 4 p.m. and will include "exclusive surprises and attendees."

"Opening our first World of Flight door in the United States in Philadelphia, where Michael Jordan played his last game and Jalen Hurts is redefining greatness on the football field, is emblematic of the stories, legacy, and achievements we continue to create and uplift," Jordan Brand President Sarah Mensah shared with CBS News Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia World of Flight store will feature exclusive product releases, sneaker drops, and customization services. This opening marks a significant step in Jordan Brand's global expansion. While Philadelphia is the first of several planned U.S. location openings, it is the sixth flagship location worldwide, joining stores in Milan, Seoul, Tokyo, Mexico City, and Beijing.

"I think it is amazing that Jordan Brand chose Philadelphia for its first World of Flight store in the U.S. — it is a city that has shown me so much love and deserves the best," Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts said to the PhillyVoice.

Hurts signed an endorsement deal with the Jordan Brand two summers ago. Since then, he has sported custom Air Jordan cleats, including those worn with the Philly slang "Jawn Air" on the tongue in a Sept. 28 matchup between the Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Jordan Brand hopes that the store in Philly will build on Michael Jordan's relationship with the city, where his Wings Initiative identified its first youth scholars in 2015. The global program supports young people who wish to develop their creative skills and explore entrepreneurship. The Jordan Brand also works with the Jalen Hurts Foundation, whose mission is to empower Philadelphia schools and students.
