The Downingtown Borough Council unanimously voted on Nov. 19 to waive all parking fees in designated municipal lots through Jan. 1, 2026. The council's efforts aim to boost holiday foot traffic for local businesses in the borough.

According to MyChesCo, this measure is intended to encourage people to visit Downingtown's shops, restaurants, and seasonal attractions during the peak holiday retail period.

Parking will be free for residents and visitors in designated borough lots. Two-hour time limits in some areas, however, will still be enforced to prevent long-term parking and ensure turnover for shoppers.

“We hope this will encourage those to visit our businesses and restaurants this season and to see all Downingtown has to offer,” officials said in a statement as they extended well-wishes for a safe and healthy holiday season.
