The first bald eagle egg of 2026 has appeared.
A female eagle at Duke Farms in Hillsborough lays claim to the first egg laid on Monday, Jan. 12, at 2:50 p.m., as announced by the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey.

Members of the public can watch the egg-hatching action on the Duke Farms Eagle Cam, which streams 24/7 on YouTube (below) or on the Duke Farms website.
Duke Farms is on 2,700 acres at 1112 Dukes Parkway West in Hillsborough. It serves as a living lab for nature restoration, wildlife conservation, and the clean energy transition.
According to The Patch of Hillsborough, this year marks the nest's 22nd season. The 2024 season brought a new pair of parents after a longtime male went missing in the summer of 2023. Last year, three eaglets fledged from the nest.
