The African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) is hosting a February lineup of Black History Month events that feature culture, education, and family-friendly activities.

The February lineup opens Sunday, Feb. 8, with a Super Bowl Watch Party at Taller Puertorriqueño in North Philadelphia. General admission is $40 and includes entry, Puerto Rican and African American cuisine, and alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks.

On Saturday, Feb. 14, the museum marks a yearlong “52 Weeks of Firsts” in Philadelphia's Historic District, celebrating the nation's first abolitionist society with remarks and free activities.

On Monday, Feb. 16, a free Innovation Sprint for youths ages 10 to 16, guided by Coded by:, lets participants act as startup founders to tackle real-world problems. Registration is required by Thursday, Feb. 12.

A Saturday, Feb. 21, collaboration with the Philadelphia Film Society will result in the screening of the 1988 comedy I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, held in connection with the exhibition “Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design.”

The month wraps up on Sunday, Feb. 22, with the Everyday Freedom Heroes Youth Costume Party for children 13 and younger. The event will feature a “wax museum” activity and cash prizes.

According to PhillyVoice, visitors who participate in the museum's Black History Month programs will also have access to current exhibitions, including “Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design” and “Sailing to Freedom.”
