The Kennett Square Borough Council unanimously approved both the Kennett Flash Summer Rooftop Concert Series and the 41st Mushroom Festival for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.

Kennett Flash Summer Rooftop Concert Series

With full council support, the Kennett Flash Summer Rooftop Concert Series will run Saturdays from June 20 through Aug. 29, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting. The series will be held on the fourth floor of the Kennett Square Parking Garage, at the structure's top level. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs, beverages, and food. Ticket prices vary. In case of inclement weather, the event may be rescheduled or moved to an indoor venue.

Local Story: Join the 6th Annual Upper Delaware Litter Sweep

According to a Daily Local report, the festival's concerts will showcase a mix of classic rock tributes, modern and alternative acts, and local original artists. The concerts continue a series that began in 2021, providing a high-quality performance space for artists and engaged audiences.

The Kennett Flash started in 2009 by Historic Kennett Square, now called Kennett Collaborative. The late Dennis Melton founded the Flash as a nonprofit in 2013, with a listening room and a stage-focused live music venue at 102 Sycamore Alley in Kennett Square.

Mushroom Festival

The Mushroom Festival in Kennett Square, touted as the Mushroom Capital of the World, is set for Sept. 11 through 13 and will attract tens of thousands of people with a one-mile street fair, family activities, and mushroom-themed cuisine.

The Daily Local reported that John D'Amico was named the new president of the Mushroom Festival, which celebrates the legacy of mushroom farming in the region. This agricultural cash crop has an economic impact of at least $1.1 billion in Pennsylvania and supports about 10,000 jobs in Chester County. Southern Chester County's mushroom farms, production houses, and packaging facilities are located in New Garden and Kennett townships between the boroughs of Kennett Square and Avondale.

Proceeds from the festival support local organizations. According to organizers, during the last two decades, the Mushroom Festival has awarded $1.5 million to the community.
