The Cape May County Park and Zoo has announced a new arrival: Leonardo DiCatprio (Leo), a five-year-old Eurasian lynx, is now housed in the Small Mammals section near the porcupines and bobcats.

According to a Patch of Ocean City report, Leo was kept as a pet and was found wandering on Long Island, New York. He spent the last four years at the Holtsville Wildlife and Ecology Center in Brookhaven, Long Island, before arriving at the zoo. Visitors can see Leo daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during zoo hours.

The Eurasian lynx is the largest lynx species, typically weighing 40-77 pounds. This species is native to mountainous regions of Europe and Asia, and can live up to 24 years in managed care.

“We couldn't be more thrilled to welcome yet another exciting member of our zoo family,” said Andrew Bulakowski, vice director of the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners, in a statement shared with the Patch of Ocean City. “The care our animals receive is second to none, and our team is excited to work with Leo. We can't wait for our residents and visitors to see him.”

The introduction of Leo follows an attendance milestone for the zoo. Last year, the attraction brought 750,000 visitors to Cape May County, underscoring its popularity and community appeal. The zoo sits off Exit 11 of the Garden State Parkway.
