If you want to tailgate at Lincoln Financial Field for the FIFA World Cup matches this summer, you're in luck. CBS Philadelphia reported that a source at the Linc has confirmed that tailgating will be permitted for this summer's World Cup matches.
The confirmation comes amid reports that tailgating is being banned at several FIFA World Cup host city sites, including Boston and MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The source explained that the fan experience for Philadelphia's FIFA World Cup soccer matches "will be consistent" with other events held at the Linc.
Philadelphia Soccer 2026, the host organization for the Philly soccer matches, said in a statement on Wednesday, April 15, that plans were still being confirmed. However, organizers remain "committed to delivering a World Cup that is authentically Philadelphia."
In a post released on X, FIFA's communications team said the international organization did not have a formal policy restricting tailgating at the World Cup. However, the team noted, "Site-specific restrictions may be imposed in alignment with host city public safety authorities in certain venues based on local regulations."
FIFA World Cup fans who want to celebrate the tournament outside are welcome at Fairmount Park's Lemon Hill for the FIFA Fan Festival. The festival will include vendors, food trucks, and screens for viewing matches from June 11 through July 1.
Lincoln Financial Field will hold six matches, five in the group stage and a Round of 16 game on Independence Day, July 4.
