The Delco-based HBO hit Task has been renewed for a second season, and producers have announced a local casting call.
According to a CBS News Philadelphia report, the production team is seeking a bilingual (English and Spanish) Latino talent pool ages 18 and older for speaking roles. Auditions are open to both union and non-union actors.
Filming for the series will take place in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs, and is set to begin on July 6, according to an Instagram post. Applications are due by midnight on May 15. All roles are SAG-AFTRA paid, and applicants can create a free profile to apply.
Heery Loftus Casting, the Philadelphia-based agency that worked on Season 1 of Task, is also handling casting for Season 2, according to a PhillyVoice report.
The series centers on an FBI task force investigating armed robberies tied to biker gang‑operated drug houses in the Philadelphia suburbs. Task writer Brad Ingelsby, a native of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, also created the Delaware County-based hit show, Mare of Easttown.
Task debuted in 2025 and stars Mark Ruffalo as Agent Tom Brandis. According to an NBC10 Philadelphia report, the second season will follow Ruffalo's return as Agent Brandis, who leads a new task force. However, the deeper the operation runs, the more difficult it is to determine who the target is.
Mahershala Ali will play Eddie Barnes, a knowledgeable DEA agent in Philadelphia whose team creates conflict with Agent Brandis's unit, the casting company said.
A release date for Season 2 of Task has not yet been announced.
