Greetings Fellow Citizens!
Most of us here at the station are still recovering in one way or another from one of the busiest Octobers I can recall. But it was fun! It occurred to me I could log it to you best through a kind of diary. Here we go: October started with an always busy Preston & Steve show heading out to West Chester (on a school night) to host the band Steel Panther at a sold-out show at The Note nightclub (pictured HERE and HERE)…Following soon after were a seemingly endless series of Halloween appearances by Preston, Steve, Kathy, Casey, Nick, and Marisa that endured the entire month, concluding with the “Haunted Whore Ride” (pictured HERE) and another group appearance at Club Risque after their show!…They were also active hosting charity events, movie premiers, and client appearances…Then came the big concerts…Them Crooked Vultures on Monday night, Oct 12 at the Electric Factory and Kiss at The Big Joint the same night…Followed the next two nights by the beginning of the end for the legendary Spectrum, two nights of Bruce Springsteen (pictured HERE) October 13 & 14 with complete concert coverage – including a beautifully written concert preview created by Kevin Gunn that I voiced (we just won a March of Dimes Air Award for it!) detailing Bruce’s entire Spectrum history from the station that was there every step of the way in his career…Friday and Saturday, October 16 & 17 Pierre hosts Bob Weir on stage each night at the Tower…Sunday, October 18 the MmaRmy and Pierre were out at the annual AIDS Walk…Monday and Tuesday, October 19 & 20 Kevin and Pierre, Matt, Jason and Marisa cover the last two nights of Bruce at the Spectrum (more reports, blocks, and concert flashbacks)(Kevin and Pierre pictured HERE)(Pierre and Jason pictured HERE)…Wednesday, October 21st AC/DC plays the Big Joint (pictured HERE) with full, live concert coverage from Matt Cord…Friday, October 23rd Pierre co-hosts “Last Call at The Spectrum” and is on stage with John DeBella introducing The Hooters, Todd Rundgren, and Hall & Oats (pictured HERE)…Sunday, October 25 Matt, Marisa, and Kathy participate in a local version of Dancing With The Stars benefiting their favorite charities (Matt dances on TV on the 10 show! view HERE)… Tuesday, October 27 we start the last week for the Spectrum and the first night of Pearl Jam with a live parade on my show with Nick, Jason, Matt, and myself driving to the building but stopping along the way at the first two small clubs Pearl Jam played in Philly and giving out tickets to that night’s show at each stop (pictured HERE)…We end up at the Spectrum where Jaxon and Kristen are live outside with more ticket giveaways until 7pm when Matt takes over inside, and Jaxon and Kristen do double duty by jetting back into town for a huge “local shots live birthday bash” at Doc Watsons (pictured HERE) (in between Jaxon juggling brand new father duties)…
