This week I had the pleasure of speaking with Mick Czaky, Gayle Wald and Anthony Heilbut in regards to the PBS Special, American Masters Series: Rosetta Tharpe The Godmother Of Rock N Roll, which will be airing Friday February 22nd at 9pm on PBS. Mick Czacky wrote, directed and produced the PBS special. Gayle Ward is the author of Shout, Sister, Shout! The Untold Story of Rock-and-Roll Trailblazer Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Anthony Heilbut is a personal friend of Sister Rosettas and was going to record with her. Sister Rosetta Tharpe was 20 years ahead of her time. Bob Dylan, Elvis, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and many more were very influenced by the gospel and blues sound of Sister Rosetta Tharpe. You can get more information about Sister Rosetta Tharpe here.
