A couple weeks back, Steve Whiteman of KIX, spoke on the final concert in the career of the band. I’m not sure it came out of nowhere with some of the guys in declining health, but it’s another band we grew up listening to hanging up their instruments.
I’d never interviewed Steve, but found him very easy to talk with and quick with a quip. He told me about the decision to call it quits. “I’m sick to death of the travel and hotels and waiting in greenrooms.” He talked about how to play one show, a lot goes into it. As far as taking the stage for the final time? “I’m ready for it.”
He also talked about the apology he made to a town in Minnesota. He looks back on the band’s history, the heyday of the group, and what stopped it in their tracks.
He told me about his heroes, vocally growing up. He tells me about the first time he heard a KIX song on the radio.
Will they do any one-off shows? He answers that, too.
That’s just for starters on this wide ranging conversation with Steve Whiteman of KIX.
