Michael was hit and killed by another driver, while out riding his Harley on October 25, 2018. Michael made the selfless decision to donate his organs in the event of his death, and I was lucky enough to receive his gift of life, a kidney, on October 27, 2018. I actually got the call that I was a match on my birthday, October 26th. Since then, I have been able to live my absolute BEST life, and am super healthy. We have put this event together to honor Michael for being the amazing human he was on this earth and even in his death, he continued to do for others. We want to use this opportunity to promote the idea of organ donation.
There will be lots of activities, including a 50/50, a Huge basket raffle and live music by Mike Estabrook, Tim Fitzpatrick and my own band, Stems and Seeds.
All of the proceeds will go to three amazing charities, The Ronald McDonald House, The York County SPCA and The Gift of Life Donor Program. In addition, we have raised the funds to bring out the Traveling Memorial Wall for Fallen Bikers, to come down from NY to display their beautiful memorial, honoring the fallen. Michael’s name has been added to it and we invite anyone to come to the benefit who would like to have a loved one memorialized on this wall as well. These wonderful people provide this service for free.
