I am hosting an event to raise awareness on divorce laws and pets in Delaware This event will also be a fundraiser for Delaware Humane Association in Wilmington, DE. Delaware Family Court favors personal property by the two list method, this includes pets. So, if during your marriage you obtained two dogs they would be split. In my situation I know this fundraiser may not save my Blue, however I want the awareness out to the public that this law is the same in most of the United States. Alaska was the first to change the law and to consider the well being and care for the animal. Illinois was the second, and New York is in the process of change as well. Delaware needs to wake up and realize pets are family and not property!
The Blue Rocks were kind enough to allow me to host a fundraiser on a Bark in the Park night and all dogs are welcome. I will also be throwing out the first pitch with Blue by my side. I am really hoping to get some coverage on this event to make a change to this law.
