10 “Always Tacky, Never Tasteful” Pierre Christmas Decorations

Examples of Pierre Robert’s Christmas decorations around the WMMR studios and hallways for 2024.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word decoration as "something that adorns, enriches, or beautifies". This definition is certainly pushed to the limit with the Christmas decorations that Pierre Robert has for the WMMR studios and hallways. It has been described as "Liberace on Acid", "If Martha Stewart was the North Pole, this is the South Pole" and "Christmas Vomit".

For the uninitiated, Pierre Robert has dozen's of boxes of "Christmas Crap" as he dubbed it that must be used to decorate the MMR studios and hallways. The MMR Elves will take all of said crap with a basic manta in mind: "Always Tacky. Never Tasteful". The more cluttered and disorienting it is the better! If you need an example of what Pierre is looking for check it out here.

There is so much Christmas decoration discombobulation so here are a few examples to get you in the holiday spirit Good Citizen! Also a big thank you to our Elves Colin, Brendon, Gabby, Caitlin, Erin, Shane, and Tori as well as Chief Elf/Producer extraordinaire Mr. Ryan Shuttleworth!

Christmas Decoration Clutter

This one prime example of discombobulation when it comes to MMR Christmas Decoration. In this image alone you can spot a trash can lid, a tutu wearing swan and 2 varieties of Santa (hunter and firefighter)

Candy Cane Extension Cord

This is fashion meets function. Looks like a candy cane, is actually an extension cord, so it must be thrown on the ceiling!

Searching for the South Pole

An upside down penguin certainly isn't enough. It also needs to be draped in garland as well for the full Christmas flair

Parachute Santa

One of the new additions to the Christmas decorations this year (yes there is always new stuff added!). This light-up parachuting Santa looks like he's coming out of the old Rittenhouse studio window

Peace, Love, and Shotgun Shells

There are several shotgun shell lights and wreaths throughout the studio area. Wrapped around the Pierre Robert studio microphone are multi-colored ones capped off with a Grateful Dead ornament...perfection.

Spongebob and The Headless Goose

Imagine looking through a window during the holiday season and seeing an upside down Spongebob Squarepants. Then imagine him next to and upside down headless goose. Only in the Pierre Robert studio is this considered normal.

Festive Flamingos

A Santa flamingo with a pair of reindeer flamingos is something you may find in a tropical setting. And this cause the ever tropical Bala Cynwyd!

Hippie Clause

There are also several festive desktop trinkets throughout. One one desk for example is a psychadelic Chris Kringle next to a Christmas tree made from a plunger. Everything that Rocks!

Safety First!

Safety is the cornerstone of all the elves work. That is why this laminated safety sheet is one of the first things you see when you enter the WMMR Kitchen area before reaching the Christmas vortex.

The 2024 Holiday Mantra

Finally the view from the Pierre Robert studios to keep everyone in the holiday spirit. Not exactly sure what is says but that's the vibe that we get from it...Happy Holidays!

From roughly 10:30am to somewhere around 3 (we call it Pierre Standard Time) weekdays Philadelphia rocks with (and loves) Pierre Robert on WMMR. Pierre Robert began his illustrious career at the pioneering progressive rock station KSAN, in his hometown San Francisco, but it’s through his uninterrupted 42-year tenure at Philadelphia‘s legendary WMMR that he’s made his mark. One of the city’s most recognizable celebrities will write about being at the center of its live music scene and greeting his legions of fans as if personal friends in the smallest clubs and largest stadiums.
