American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon 2023 - WMMR Team Captains

The ACS Bike-A-Thon has benefitted the American Cancer Society for 51 years. The annual event took place on Sunday, June 11, 2023.

As stated by the ACS, "At Bike-A-Thon, participants and volunteers come together to honor cancer survivors, spread the word about reducing cancer risk, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society save lives."

Riders begin in Philadelphia at the base of the Ben Franklin Bridge just after sunrise. They cross the river to the Jersey side to begin a long trek to Atlantic City. The ride includes small rest stops throughout South Jersey. The most experienced riders complete a course of 100 miles. (You might not want to complain as much on your next car ride down the shore.)

They reach the finish line set up on the Atlantic City Boardwalk just off the campus of Stockton University.

Team WMMR

Team WMMR, and its 179 participants, is one of the top fundraising teams that participated in the event in 2023. You can still donate HERE (thru 8/31).

Our very own Markus in the Darkus, with the help of his co-captain Vince, organizes the team effort and participates in the ride himself each year.

MMR is proud to have helped the efforts of the American Cancer Society for another year with a fun event benefitting a great cause.

From roughly 10:30am to somewhere around 3 (we call it Pierre Standard Time) weekdays Philadelphia rocks with (and loves) Pierre Robert on WMMR. Pierre Robert began his illustrious career at the pioneering progressive rock station KSAN, in his hometown San Francisco, but it’s through his uninterrupted 42-year tenure at Philadelphia‘s legendary WMMR that he’s made his mark. One of the city’s most recognizable celebrities will write about being at the center of its live music scene and greeting his legions of fans as if personal friends in the smallest clubs and largest stadiums.
