Delicious, or a disaster? When you're cooking with Chef Pierre and using the official WMMR Cookbook, it could go either way.

In 1988, WMMR published the Rock n' Roll Celebrity Cookbook with recipes from rockstars and station staff. It's got contributions from the DJs at the time: John DeBella, Joe Bonnadonna, Ray Koob, Michael Tearon, Cyndy Drue, Lyn Kratz, our program director Ted Utz, engineer Walter Jost and several others. The musicians who offered recipes include Tom Petty, David Bowie, Mike Rutherford of Genesis, Peter Frampton, Lou Reed, Billy Squire, David Lee Roth, Clarence Clemons, David Crosby, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Alex Lifeson of Rush, and so many more.

Some were authentic recipes. There's Pat Benatar's Pizza, Greg Kihn's Crab Cakes, and the "Big Man's Marinade" from Clarence Clemons. Some were more whimsical than practical (Boiling Gator Water, anyone?).

October is National Cookbook Month, so Pierre Robert and Brent Porche marked the occasion by highlighting their favorite dishes in the cookbook, and they even try a brand new concoction! Spoiler alert: it was a stomach-churning disaster. Watch until the end...

Below are several recipes from this MMaRtifact. Now you can try Pat Benatar's Pizza, Paul and Linda McCartney's Green Pea Soup, or Charles Barkley's Lasagna in your own kitchen! Tag us on Instagram if you try them yourself. It's almost certain to turn out better than our culinary experiments.

We'll leave you with a special recipe from Graham Nash: "Take some hope, take some compassion, take a half hour of thought, take some food to the food bank. It's a great recipe for life!"

From roughly 10:30am to somewhere around 3 (we call it Pierre Standard Time) weekdays Philadelphia rocks with (and loves) Pierre Robert on WMMR. Pierre Robert began his illustrious career at the pioneering progressive rock station KSAN, in his hometown San Francisco, but it’s through his uninterrupted 42-year tenure at Philadelphia‘s legendary WMMR that he’s made his mark. One of the city’s most recognizable celebrities will write about being at the center of its live music scene and greeting his legions of fans as if personal friends in the smallest clubs and largest stadiums.
