At 5:30pm on October 6, 1986 the first episode of Double Dare premiered on Nickelodeon. That first run of episodes was filmed right here in Philadelphia at the WHYY studios, and, if you grew up near Philly in the 80's there's a good chance you knew someone or knew someone who knew someone that was on the show.
After moving the show to Universal Studios, kids across the country dreamed about the chance of getting slimed until the show's initial run ended in 1993. Some kids never let go of that dream, like those of us here at The Preston & Steve Show. That's why we convinced Marc, Harvey & Robin to reunite in Philly on 93.3 WMMR for Drunk Day Double Day in 2008. It was a smashing success, and quite the mess, so we didn't know if we would ever hear from our childhood game show idols ever again.
Turns out, they loved us! Thirteen years, multiple Camp Out For Hunger: Double Dares, Know the Shows, and infamous Philly Beer Week: Dunkle Dares later, we're honored to be a small part of the Double Dare history.
