In honor of the Black Crowes’ return to Philly this spring, check out these photos from a show that happened in our town right before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down most concerts and events back in 2020.
Chris and Rich Robinson have toured a handful of times as a duo under the moniker ‘Brothers of a Feather,’ delivering an evening of acoustic songs from Black Crowes records. The show on February 21st, 2020 at The Foundry above the Fillmore Philadelphia was completely sold out. Brent Porche of WMMR welcomed the packed house before the two brothers took the stage.
The setlist that night focused on their 90s catalog, comprised mostly of hits from the band’s first three albums: Shake Your Money Maker, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, and Amorica. A show later in the tour, recorded in San Fransisco, was produced as a concert film the following year.

Their performance was one of the last that we witnessed before the pandemic took hold. The band had to postpone their anniversary plans for Shake Your Moneymaker, but eventually they returned to the road. The brothers, who’ve had a tense relationship over the years, got along so well on that anniversary run that they decided to record and release another album together.
Happiness Bastards will arrive on March 15th, a couple of months before their show at The Met Philly on May 7th. Pierre Robert has tickets to give away on his show this week before they go on sale Friday (1/26). We’ll see you on Broad Street for “them skinny Black Crowes!” (in the words of Jacky Bam Bam).
