Broadcast news' biggest competition returned to Preston & Steve's Camp Out For Hunger. Mini Hoops Madness: Battle of the Sportscasters featured four returning arcade athletes and some fresh blood.
Each of the six competitors stepped up to the Mini Hoops game to show off their old school shooting skills. On the line? Bragging rights. A championship belt. And $5,000 to Camp Out For Hunger donated in their name by Victory Brewing Company. As you might imagine, it got a little vicious.

About Preston & Steve’s Camp Out For Hunger:
This is Preston & Steve’s 27th annual Camp Out For Hunger collecting non-perishable items for Philabundance to support those in need. The 93.3 WMMR hosts actually ‘Camp Out’ in the parking lot of Xfinity Live inside the Wells Fargo Center Complex for the week-long broadcast. During the five days, they invite listeners to come down, watch the carnival-like show. Each morning is filled with new guests, games, stunts… and yes, carnival rides.
The family friendly event is free to attend, they ask that everyone bring non-perishable food donations or purchase donations from the on-site ACME Market pop up store. The Preston & Steve Show broadcasts live from 6a – 10:30a, then hand the mic over to legendary mid-day host, Pierre Robert who keeps the party going until 3pm, when afternoon WMMR DJ, Brent Porsche takes over until 7pm. Resident Vampire DJ, Jacky Bam Bam is known to do a shift or two from South Philly as well.

The first Camp Out For Hunger in 1998 collected 1 TON of food. In 2022, the generous folks of the Delaware Valley donated 1,757,021lbs (878 TONS) and $1,158,732. That’s an all time total of over 24 million pounds of food donated to Philabundance.

He is a graduate of Syracuse University, with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Ladies and gentlemen, that is a big deal. mHe has been the face of Philadelphia Sports ever since 1997…and has made BLUE glasses cool since 2016. From NBC Sports Philadelphia – MICAHEL BARKANN
Mini Hoops Madness - Pat Gallen

A Northeast Philadelphia native, and proud graduate of West Chester University. An Emmy Award-winning sports anchor and reporter, who embarrassed himself in front of his mother, who is a longtime fan of The Preston and Steve Show. This year, he vows to bring the belt back to Northeast High School. From CBS3 – PAT GALLEN
Mini Hoops Madness - Jason Martinez

An Emmy Award-winning anchor/reporter, our newest competitor moved to Philly from San Diego. And he ONLY did so to make Casey Boy look worse at the gym. He joined the FOX 29 News team in June 2019. He is a graduate of Chapman University in Orange, CA where he played baseball and is also an avid golfer who cannot seem to find the fairway. From Fox 29 – Jason Martinez

Our next contestant is competing in his first ever Mini Hoops Madness, but promises to not disappoint as he claims, his abnormal, gorilla like reach gives him a MAJOR advantage. The University of Delaware Alumn has done very little in the world of athletic achievement. His SON, however, has made serious waves in collegiate baseball. This past season, at JMU he had 69 hits with two triples, 16 home runs and 20 doubles and was selected into the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team.
