Yo Adrian! We did it! Preston & Steve’s first Rocky Run Relay was a sudsy success!
When The Preston & Steve Show learned that Philly’s Rockyfest would occur during Camp Out For Hunger the next step was a no brainer. WE HAVE TO DO OUR OWN KICKOFF EVENT!
To our surprise, the Philadelphia Visitor Center, the organization behind the event, was excited to be part of our unsanctioned event. We called it the Rocky Run Relay and the prize was all sorts of swag from the official Rocky Store outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art (aka the Rocky Steps).
Here’s a rundown of the obstacles that our competitor’s faced:
- #1: Side of Beef. Rocky has to throw twenty punches at the beef (a blowup cow)
- #2: Chicken Chase. Rocky has to chase after and catch the chicken (rubber chicken on a fishing pole)
- #3: Cuff and Link. Rocky has to feed cuff and link (open a jar of sprinkles)
- #4: Race Apollo. Foot race against Apollo Creed (cardboard cutout)
- #5: Butkus Bath. Rocky washes Butkus (blow up dog in a tub of water)
- #6: Log Run. Rocky puts a log over his shoulders and does five lunges (cardboard log tube)
- #7: Cut me Mick. Rocky sits on a stool and says Cut me NICK (Nick with a fake blood packet)
- #8: Run the Steps. Rocky runs up the step with hands in the air (to the top of the ride)
