Another busy summer concert weekend is officially in the books over in beautiful downtown Camden, New Jersey at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion!
On Friday night, Godsmack brought their friends in Staind & Mix Master Mike along for the “Best of Times World Tour.” Then, Mix Master Mike & Staind rocked out hard through their respective sets without incident.
However, Godsmack’s set never came to fruition following a nasty lightning storm that seemingly hovered over Freeom Mortgage Pavilion for quite a while on Friday night.
The show was ultimately cut short due to the inclement weather. Godsmack then posted a message on their socials addressing the evening and vowing to make it up to us. Staind was fantastic as always! Their new album Confessions of the Fallen is due out September 15th.
Saturday night, Mudvayne brought their friends in Coal Chamber, GWAR, Nonpoint & Butcher Babies along for the “Psychotherapy Sessions” tour. Though mother nature was very much present, she didn’t put as huge of a damper on the experience and evening. It rained pretty hard during part of the evening, but thankfully, there wasn’t any lightning to go along with it.
Snoop Dogg “High School Renion”
Sunday night, it was finally the “High School Reunion” Tour, featuring ‘Tha Dogg Father’ Snoop Dogg, ‘Mr. Black & Yellow’ Wiz Khalifa, rap legends Warren G & Too $hort, Berner and Philly’s own DJ Drama.
Finally, it was an absolutely beautiful night for an outdoor concert from front to back! The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, and the 20,000 fans in attendance were soaking up every bit of it.
DJ Drama kicked off the night on the ones & twos, getting the Camden crowd hyped for the rest of the performances. Taylor Gang recording artist and San Fransisco native Berner hit the stage next for a quick set, followed by rap legends Warren G & Too $hort who lit up the crowd with their own individual sets before coming out later to join Snoop & Wiz, respectively. West Coast rapper, Too $hort, hadn’t performed in the Philadelphia area in decades!
Wiz Khalifa hit the stage afterwards with a high energy set that had the Camden crowd going bonkers featuring all of his smash hits “Black & Yellow,” “We Dem Boyz,” and several others.
I have seen Snoop Dogg a number of times over the years, including Korn’s ‘Family Values Tour” and Linkin Park’s “Projekt Revolution” tour, among others. Last night’s performance was one of the very best that I have ever see with the D-O-double-G.
Snoop played all his biggest hits and a bunch from other artists that he has lent his lyrics to like Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Akon, 2Pac & even Katy Perry.
The stage set-up was amazing also. All sorts of great lighting configurations and cool imagery up on the big screens, and of course, we can’t forget Snoop’s “Snoop DeVille” lowrider that was featured prominently center stage during his whole performance.
Snoop Dogg’s brand-new line of ice cream “Dr. Bombay” was also on hand giving out free samples, it was delicious!
Yes, it was just ice cream, which can be found at Wal-Mart.
