In case you missed it, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band canceled both of their shows at Citizens Bank Park this weekend.

The announcement came just hours before the scheduled start of the first show on Wednesday, August 16. The anticipation and buildup for one of the best live performers of his generation was creating an incredible buzz around the city of Philadelphia.

The sudden news unfortunately crushed the hopes of tens of thousands of people in the area when it dropped.

Replace the Canceled Bruce Springsteen Concert

First and foremost, hope for the Boss to get healthy. Updates about possibilities for rescheduled dates will likely come out in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, a big event is off the board for a summer weekend in the city of Philadelphia. The weather will be great, and there’s a new opportunity to try something new. If you missed out on the canceled Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band shows after the unfortunate change of plans, fill up the extra time with a different activity in the city of Philadelphia.

Whether you want an upbeat party, a casual relaxing activity, a day out with the kids, or even a WMMR local appearance, you’re covered with a number of good options.

  • Metallica M72 Tour Shown in Theatres

The Metallica M72 Tour won’t stop in Philadelphia, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss it completely. Local movie theaters will air the Metallica show at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX live on their projector screens. Choose the closest location to you in King of Prussia, Warrington, Somerdale (NJ), Newark (DE), or Wilmington (DE). Visit the WMMR Event page for more information.

  • A 3-Hour Movie Doesn't Seem So Long Anymore

It’s tough to reserve time to see a three-hour movie, so you might not have seen this summer’s hit Oppenheimer. You’ve got three extra hours that Bruce would’ve taken up though.

Go enjoy the film about one of the most controversial decisions made in the entire 20th century.

  • Spruce Street Harbor Park

Take advantage of the beautiful waterfront along the Delaware River. Enjoy a cold drink, a game of cornhole, or just a casual walk through Spruce Street Harbor Park this weekend.

  • Visit the Jersey Shore

There’s not much time left in the summer. Take a quick road trip down the shore to enjoy the party while you still can. You know that’s what Bruce Springsteen would want.

  • Philadelphia Zoo

America’s oldest zoo is located in West Philadelphia, and you might not have been there in awhile. The Philadelphia Zoo offers great seasonal membership deals, and it’s especially friendly to kids who want to enjoy a nice day out and learn about animals.

  • Hang with Jacky Bam Bam

There’s never a dull moment with Jacky Bam Bam. He’ll be available to collect some donations, take pictures, or just have a quick chat.

Stop by Rita’s in Croydon on Sunday afternoon between 1pm-3pm for a refreshing wooder ice. A non-perishable food donation to Harvest Ministries Food Pantry gets you a 10% discount off your order.

Visit the WMMR Event page for more information.

  • Spend Friday Night With The Boss

You’ll still need your fix of Bruce Springsteen. We pulled that entire concert off the shelves of the MMaRchives after word got out that Bruce was unable to perform this week due to illness.

On Friday at 7pm, on what would have been his second night at Citizens Bank Park, we’re going to take you back to the Big Joint instead. WMMR will broadcast the complete show from March 16th, 2023.

Stream it on the MMR app, right here on WMMR.com, or ask your smart speaker to “Open MMR”, and then enjoy the sounds of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band for two and a half glorious hours. You-Call-It Friday Night will resume after the encore, with Radio Sara filling in for Jacky Bam Bam to take your requests.

Visit the WMMR Event page for more information.
