Meet Philadelphia’s own Riverside Odds, MMR’s Local Shots Artist of the Month.
Riverside Odds was formed in 2013 by RW Hellborn and Matty Cobra. They have made a name for themselves in the Philly punk community with their fast and heavy punk-meets-blues riffs and energetic stage presence.
Their first album “Let The Mayhem Begin,” released in 2015, helped expand their fanbase. With that, Riverside Odds began supporting national and international acts.
The band embarked on their first US tour supporting the V8 Wankers in 2016. 2018 was a huge year for Riverside Odds. They signed to Altercation Records, played Warped Tour in Camden, NJ, and were direct support for a number of international touring bands.
Riverside Odds went back into the studio for their second album, ‘Get Into It’ in 2019. They worked with producer Eddie Spaghetti of Supersuckers, who helped to elevate their sound.
RW and Matty spent the majority of 2020 writing what would become their third album, “Punching Above Our Weight.” Once again they worked with Eddie Spaghetti as producer. The album was recorded in Los Angeles at 64Sound. The album features Jorge Disguster (The Hangmen, Greg Antista & The Lonely Street) on drums. Eddie Spaghetti played bass. And there were several guest appearances, including Jimmy James (The Hangmen, Junkyard), Will Walden (Rod Gator), and Lisa Kekaula (The BellRays).
The new arrangement in studio helped the band push their boundaries and explore more of their rock and roll side.
Throughout the band’s history Riverside Odds’ mission has remained the same: Having fun playing Rock-N-Roll with their friends.
