They did it. THEY DID IT! The Phillies are going to the Playoffs for the first time since 2011.
After the terrible 22-29 start that lead to Joe Girardi’s demise, it was hard to imagine that Rob Thomson would be doused with champagne come October.
“I just can’t believe all the things that you have overcome in the course of the year,” the interim skipper said in his toast. “We’re not done. After Wednesday, we have 13 more wins and we’re World Champions.”
The past few weeks have been a rollercoaster: will they hit the magic number? Can they do this? All I know is that the city needs this and this team deserves it. Just look at these moments from the clubhouse celebration:
