The 5 “P” Weekend Picks November 15-17

Each and every weekend in our fair city of Philadelphia and the "Fine Villages" that surround it there are so many things to get out and experience! From concerts to movies, plays to parties, benefits and bashes and everything in between.

This weekend can take you in numerous directions. For those fans of "man's best friend" the National Dog Show takes over the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks where dogs of all shapes and sizes competes to see who will be the best in show. Our Weekend Warriors will be celebrating Linkin Park all weekend long with double-shots of their tunes and tickets to giveaway for their recently announced show at The Big Joint in August. And we say "Sports Up!" as the Sixers and Flyers battle it out on the court & ice as part of you weekend picks as well.

We celebrate it every Friday with Pierre's Weekend Calendar, a cultivation of some of those happenings so you Dear Citizen can get out and make the most of the weekend. The 6th annunal Phil-a-Trunk is organized and hosted by the Porsche Club of America: Riesentöter Region in conjunction with Mainline Cars & Coffee is taking place Sunday the 17th. Car Club registration is open at PhilATrunk.com. The entry fee is your food donation: all trunks, frunks, and beds of food are welcome to sign up. All to benefit Preston & Steve's Camp Out For Hunger taking place December 2-6 at the Wells Fargo Center Complex.

Taking place Saturday and Sunday at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks, See up to 2,000 of the top American Kennel Club sanctioned dogs from across the country. Over 200 Breeds competing for top spots in each of their respective categoiries and only one can be crowned "Best In Show". Saturday is The National Dog Show Presented by Purina, taped for telecast nationwide on Thanksgiving Day by NBC. Sunday’s show offers more canine competitions, enhanced athletic dog exhibitions plus family-friendly activities and hands-on fun. The KISS front man will be showcasing another form of art in Atlantic City. The Wentworth Gallery will be exclusively presenting Paul's canvases at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino from 7-9pm on Friday November 15. Paul will be in attendance himself with opportunities available to have a private painting experience with Mr. Stanley himself per his website

Lovers of all things red, white, and rose will gather in South Philly on Saturday November 16 at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. Each ticket grants you samples from local, regional and national vineyards, collectable glassware and more. Multiple sessions between noon and 8pm. Tickets are required

Dubbed "Mayhem In Manayunk", the Benny's Big Slice pizza eating championship takes place on Friday November 15. Fat Lady Brewery, 4323 Main street, is where the MLE (Major League Eating) sanctioned event will take place. Competitors will see how many slices of Benny's monstrous 28 inch pie they can consume.
