September 14th is National Eat a Hoagie Day, but let’s be honest, hoagies are perfect every single day of the year. Going to the beach? Hoagies. Going away party? Hoagies. School field trip? Hoagie. Tailgate? Hoagie tray. Tuesday? Hoagie. You get the gist.

I was tasked with creating an Ultimate Hoagie List. I happily took on this project, but it basically turned into an Ultimate Delco Hoagies List.  At it’s core, it’s simply a nostalgic look at all of the hoagie places in my life.

*Note* This is not a list of what I consider to be the BEST hoagies of Delco… it’s just a collection of my favorites. – CaseyBoy

  • Rita’s Folsom Market (We just called it Rita’s)

At the Corner of 6th & Folsom in Folsom, PA

This place was the FIRST to ever make me a hoagie and was my go-to for years and years.

  • Anna’s Steaks & Hoagies

At the Corner of Sutton Ave & MacDade Blvd

This is where we went to get a cheap “Poor Boy” hoagie before or after a baseball game… or just any random afternoon/evening.  I also made sure to go here before EVERY baseball game to  clean out the baseball gumball jar (NEVER buy anything worse than a double)

  • Dairy Cottage

    Route 420, Springfield, PA

My Mom still calls this Joe’s Dairy Cottage.  Not only do they have great hoagies, they also have an AMAZING Beef Barley Soup.

It’s the MOST WONDERFUL TIMEEE to eat at the Dairy Cottage! Actually, it is ALWAYS the most wonderful time to eat at the Dairy Cottage! See you soon! 🎄⛄️

  • Marzella’s

At the Corner of Main St. & 5th Ave in Collegeville

I lived 2 doors away from this place for 3 of my college years.  They saved my ass on many Saturday/Sunday mornings…and they introduced me to the Chicken Cheesesteak Hoagie.

    Which one would you choose?

  • Thunderbird

2323 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA

At this place, its all about the bread…and they’ve got the best bread in town!!!  Don’t sleep on their tuna hoagies on Fridays during Lent!!

  • Best Wawa Hoagies

I will not allow any Wawa blasphemy in this post.  Wawa has been loyal to us our whole lives!  Where do you go for a bite to eat at 6AM, 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, 9PM & 3AM??  WAWA IS ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU!!  My top 3 Wawa Hoagies are:

Roast Pork – YEAH, you heard me.  Don’t believe me??  Try it.  Build it however you want…and then lets talk.  My roast pork has provolone cheese, pickles & hot peppers – TOASTED – Always toasted!!! – This Hoagie is the MOST underrated hoagie in our area!!

Classic Italian – Nothing fancy…just the basic Italian – Sometimes with onions, sometimes not.

Meatball – Okay, I’m gonna get a little weird on ya here…but try it if you’re intrigued.  Meatballs, Provolone Cheese & Pickles – TOASTED – Always toasted!!!

  • Best Primo Hoagies

Primo is another Tri-State Area Godsend, they seem to do just about everything right.  My top 3 Primo Hoagies are:

Turkey Diablo – Put whatever you want on yours, but I like mine dry with lettuce, pickles and hot peppers

Pilgrim  – The ONLY bad thing about this hoagie is that it is not offered year round.  That is a travesty.

Tuna Diablo – I used to think ALL tuna hoagies had to be made with Mayo, until I met Primo’s!!  You have probably sensed a theme here with my hoagie preferences, I like my Tuna Diablo but I like mine dry with lettuce, pickles and hot peppers.
