Chester Bennington’s Family Working On Suicide Prevention Organization
It appears the family of the late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington plans to do its part to help assist suicide awareness and prevention in the wake of his death on July 20.
While Linkin Park has already created a tribute site that includes information about resources to help those considering suicide, TMZ reports that the singer’s family — concerned about the possibility of copycat suicides in the wake of his death — will be establishing an organization “to raise awareness and provide resources to those contemplating” suicide.
“They feel Chester’s biggest downfall was being alone, especially in his final moments,” TMZ reports, “so they want to stress the importance of surrounding yourself with loved ones.”
The Bennington family’s plans are “still in the early stages” with “no word on when the new org will be up and running,” but indications are it will come sooner rather than later.
Linkin Park, meanwhile, has announced plans to hold a memorial event for Bennington in Los Angeles but has not yet revealed details for that.
