You can mark next spring for a new album from Ghost, according to recently unmasked group leader Tobias Forge, aka Papa Emeritius.

During a red carpet interview at the Metal Hammer Awards in Germany, where Forge sported one of the band's Nameless Ghoul masks, Forge said that, "We've been in the studio for about a month now, and by the end of the year, if everything goes according plan, knock know, we're gonna have a new album, not out, but we're gonna have a new (album) recorded and mixed and delivered...Hopefully that means we're gonna have a new album out by April, possibly hopefully."

In previous interviews, Forge has said that the follow-up to 2015's Meliora will be "about the return of God...God's wrath cast upon the suffering humans" and indicated it will be "darker, a little bit more apocalyptic. "

Forge is still facing lawsuits from former members of the band in Sweden claiming he owes them additional royalties for their work.
