Amy Lee on a Potential 20th Anniversary Tour for ‘Fallen,’ New Music from Evanescence in 2020
Bands touring in support of a major album anniversary and performing that album live in its entirety has been a trend for some time now, and that’s certainly not lost on Evanescence’s Amy Lee.
Lee spoke with WMMR’s Brent Porche and Sara at the MMRBQ last weekend, and when asked if the band could potentially tour in honor of the 20th anniversary of Fallen in 2023, Lee said,
“We haven’t discussed the idea of, like, ‘Let’s plan it.’ It’s interesting because we were just talking about how fun it would be. One of the things we put together recently for this round of our headlining shows is this medley of a bunch of our songs that we don’t normally play and getting to go back down some of those roads we haven’t been down in a live way or some of them ever was really fun and made us remember some of the things we loved that we don’t get to do. So, we were saying how fun it would be to do something that was only this album, only this other album, only this other one. That would be really fun to be able to do.”
In the meantime, Evanescence is focusing on the follow-up to 2017’s Synthesis. There has been buzz that new music could come in 2020, however, Lee pumped the brakes and said,
“I definitely hope so. I don’t like to put too much pressure on ‘here’s the date it’s going to come out’ until we’re down the road pretty well, and we’re just starting the writing process. We’re excited to have this year be a year for creation and inspiration and just digging back into it together.”
Evanescence is taking a break from the road until July when they play a handful of festival dates and will head to Europe for a tour beginning September 1. For a complete list of tour dates, head over to Evanescence.com.
