ICYMI: Tobias Forge Confirms He’s Papa Emeritus
Though it’s already widely known, Swedish musician Tobias Forge has formally revealed that he IS Ghost frontman Papa Emeritus during a recent Swedish radio broadcast.
Tobias kept his and his bandmate’s identities under wraps, and behind masks, since Ghost emerged during 2010, but recently legalities with former band members (the Nameless Ghouls) put the long-rumored Forge’s name out in the public. He ended the broadcast by posting a photo sans mask and saying, “My name is Tobias Forge. I’m the man behind the mask in Ghost.”

Forge spoke at length about his upbringing and musical career, including some emotional comments about his brother, who died shortly after Forge posted the first Ghost songs on MySpace, which led to the group’s label deals.
He also said his mother was telling people about his work with Ghost well before it was even hinted at in public.
Forge, who’s changed Ghost’s lineup during the past year, is currently working on the group’s fourth album, the follow-up to 2015’s Grammy Award-winning Meliora and last year’s Popestar EP.
