Dave Matthews, Coldplay, Wilco pay tribute to Tom Petty
Famous friends and admirers of Tom Petty continue to pen tributes to the rock legend, but last night the first on stage tributes began to happen.
Dave Matthews, who was performing at a private show at the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, CA, played an unplugged version of “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” a staple in DMB sets. Jimmy Buffett captured the video:
In Portland, Oregon, Coldplay began their sold out show with a moment of silence for the victims of the Las Vegas tragedy. Later in the night they asked for another moment of silence then were joined on stage by R.E.M. co-founder and lead guitarist Peter Buck for an emotional rendition of “Freefallin’ ”
Following the minute of silence, Peter Buck joined the band for this wonderful rendition of Freefalling by Tom Petty.
