Hartsy & Gritty Meet, Prove They’re Not The Same Person
This Thursday the Flyers will honor Scott Hartnell before they take on the Nashville Predators, the team he spent 7 years with prior to his “best years” in Philly.
So what has Hartsy been up to on his first hockey season not on the ice? “Waking up at 2AM singing “Baaaaaaaaaaaby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.” (professional athlete or not, it happens to all every new parent!)
Last month Scott received a call from Paul Holmgren inviting him to take center ice and celebrate his career surrounded by the two teams that launched his career. “It’s real touching, good icing on the cake for a great career and these were my best years here in Philadelphia and there’s a lot of good memories with the city and that building. Just everywhere.”
So what’s it like to be a young player on the ice watching the celebration of a legend before warm ups? Do you ever think that will be you one day? “You don’t think of it at the time… but watching your idols up there [Rob Brind’Amour, Big E]… it’s pretty cool to see them.”
Then we got serious and asked the one question everything was thinking this week: is Scott nervous to meet Gritty? (think about it… no one has seen the two of them in the same room together)
Kidding, we dug deep into the current Flyers situation. Coaching woes and new goalies. Same old. Listen to his take on the new regime: (chapter #6)
UPDATE: Since the interview Scott and Gritty have met and already become best friends.
