WrestleMania 35 Makes History with First-Ever Women’s Main Event
WrestleMania, as an event, has a long, storied history, and after over three decades of existence, it’s still not done making a little history itself.
WWE has announced that the Raw Women’s Championship match between Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair will be the main event at WrestleMania 35 marking the first time a women’s match will do so in WrestleMania history.
The feud between current Raw champion Rousey, Lynch and Flair has been going on for months and has been a continued highlight week in and week out on WWE’s weekly programming of Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live.
Formerly known as the Diva’s Division, the Women’s Division in WWE has grown in talent and popularity by leaps and bounds over the past few years ever the company’s re-branding. For years, the women in WWE were not fully utilized and were seen primarily as eye-candy and not as athletes.
WrestleMania 35 takes place Sunday, April 7 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
