COVID-19 is wreaking havoc on everything, including soda cans. According to the New York Post, aluminum can makers have seen a significant increase in demand over the past few months, and the struggle for them to keep up is real. "This has reportedly caused shortages of popular soda brands in some areas."

They add that when lockdown started, Americans began stocking up on their favorite drinks. Because they are easier to stack and store, people reportedly bought more canned beverages over bottles. The sale of canned sodas even rose by 30 percent in March and April.

On Twitter, one fan asked Coca-Cola why they couldn't find Cherry Coke Zero. The company responded, saying, "We are seeing greater demand for products consumed at home & taking measures to adapt, working to mitigate the challenge during this unprecedented time. We appreciate your loyalty to our beverages; please know that we're working hard to keep the products you love on the shelves."

To adjust to the demand, both Coca Cola and Pepsi have begun focusing on their most popular flavors to keep them in stock. Because of this, the less popular flavors are harder to find in stores.
