You just hit a 2 run walk-off homerun in your first MLB career game, what are you going to do? "Call Preston & Steve!"
Luke Williams called into The Preston & Steve Show this morning and we could still hear the smile on his face. Rightfully so! The Phillies rookie had the game of a lifetime, joining a small group of players to hit a game winner in their major league debut. [video]
And that's not even the beginning of the excitement Luke has experienced this week. He's fresh off of hitting .444 (8 for 18) with a double, a triple, a homer and six RBIs in four games to help Team USA qualify for the Olympics. But, moving up to the bigs this week disqualified him from going to Tokyo. "And that's okay!" It's something he's been dreaming about his whole life verses a once in a life time opportunity. "That's a pretty good situation to be in."
Thank you, Luke, all of Philadelphia is ecstatic that you chose us. With the mask mandate being lifted, there's a chance someone may recognize Luke and his family, who flew in from all over the country, walking around the city before or after a game. If they do, he's prepared: "I know what kind of town Philadelphia is... and I've heard that I may get noticed, haha."
Phillies take on the Yankees this weekend, grab a ticket while you still can.
