Italian Market Festival May 20-21 With Much Food And Music
Philly’s largest Block Party, The Italian Market Festival is a two-day event held in Philadelphia’s South 9th Street Italian Market. The festival features live music, food vendors, arts and crafts, and a grease pole climbing competition.
The festival is free to attend and open to the public. It takes place on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 from 11am to 6pm.
The Italian Market is historic and has been in operation since 1915. It is home to over 200 vendors selling a variety of Italian food, produce, and more.
The festival is a great opportunity to experience the best of the Italian Market. Visitors can enjoy live music, sample delicious food, and shop for unique gifts.
Highlights of the Italian Market Festival:
Live Music: There will be live music on two stages throughout the festival. The lineup includes DJ Tim DeSimone and DJ Eric Bartello. Bands include The Company, the Juliano Brothers and Jukebox Days. the full musical entertainment list is HERE.
Food Vendors: There will be over 100 food vendors at the festival, serving up a variety of Italian cuisine. Some of the popular items include pizza, pasta, and gelato.
Arts and Crafts: There will be a variety of arts and crafts vendors at the festival, selling everything from jewelry to paintings.
Grease Pole Climbing Competition: The grease pole climbing competition is a popular event at the festival. Teams of two will attempt to climb a 30-foot-tall greased pole to retrieve prizes.
Tribute to Jerry Blavat: He was part of the festival for over 20 years. Tribute on Saturday, May 20th at 12:30pm hosted by Mark Casasanto. The tribute includes live performances by Billy Carlucci-Billy and the Essentials, ChiChi-“Memory Lane”, Remember Then and a Special “Geator Gold” Dance Party with DJ Eric Bartello.
Tips for attending the Italian Market Festival:
Wear comfortable shoes. You will be doing a lot of walking.
Bring a water bottle.
Bring cash. Many of the vendors do not accept credit cards.
