WMMR Celebrates Women’s History Month: Week Three
WMMR and Jacky BamBam are celebrating Women’s History Month. We are honoring the female artists who were fundamental in the evolution of everything that rocks.
Every weeknight in March, at 8 pm, Jacky BamBam will turn the spotlight on the music of incredible and influential female rock artists.
Lita Ford
Lita Ford is a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. She was the lead guitarist for the all-female rock band the Runaways in the late 70s and then embarked on a successful glam metal solo career that hit its peak in the late 1980s. The 1989 single “Close My Eyes Forever”, a duet with Ozzy Osbourne, remains Ford’s most successful song, reaching No. 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Larkin Poe
Larkin Poe are my personal friends, and also friends of the station! These gals truly truly rock. Larkin Poe is a roots rock band led by sisters Rebecca Lovell and Megan Lovell. The band originated in north Georgia and is currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. You can hear some of their best tracks played on WMMR daily!
Jade Starling
Jade Starling is a singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist for the 1980s band Pretty Poison. She lives in New Jersey. Starling is a gay rights activist as well! She also speaks phonetic Spanish and often records songs in both Spanish and English.
He is celebrating Women’s History Month the way only WMMR and Jacky BamBam can! It’s all part of everything that rocks.
