This Pennsylvania Haunted House is One of America’s Scariest
One Pennsylvania haunted house is being celebrated for having some of the best thrills and chills of any in America. Halloween is a super popular holiday, and it seems as if we’re celebrating earlier and earlier every year. I’m not mad about it. I love Halloween but also love summer, so it’s a bittersweet thing for me.
Pennsylvania Haunted House is One of America’s Scariest
The experts at Parade.com have put together a tally of the best haunted houses in the country. “It might be summer, but it’s never too early to get excited for some haunts and thrills when fall comes around,” they state. “Going to a haunted house—whether you go on Halloween night or in the days leading up to October 31—is a classic Halloween tradition, especially among teens and young adults.”
Looking at some of the biggest spots in the major meccas of America, Blood Manor in New York City is one to watch. The “massive 5,000-square-foot haunted attraction” features a bunch of themed rooms that are guaranteed to scare you silly. In California, a state known for their Hollywood scares, Reign of Terror Haunted House in Thousand Oaks is a top pick. This haunted attraction features more than 100 rooms. “So when you’re done with one room, you’ll be immediately transported to another haunted adventure,” which makes it extra scary. Granted, both of those haunted attractions are far away, but if you happen to be in New York or California this fall, they might be worth checking out.
So, which Pennsylvania haunted house has been named of the best haunted houses in America? It’s the popular Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. This shouldn’t be surprising at all, because the Eastern State Penitentiary is one of the most-attended haunted attractions in the region. “Known for housing notorious criminals like Al Capone and Willie Sutton, the once-operational Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia gets a little spookier come Halloween time,” Parade.com notes. “The whole prison becomes a haunted house that takes a little less than an hour to walk through,” but they add that you can have “a drink at the speakeasy in Al Capone’s old cell,” too. How cool is that? You don’t get to do that at many haunted attractions. “Halloween Nights” at the Eastern State Penitentiary includes five haunted houses, plus historic tours; themed bars and lounges; live entertainment; and more. You can find this Pennsylvania haunted house at 2027 Fairmount Avenue in Philadelphia, and they open starting Sept. 20. I’m ready.
