A popular New Jersey beach town was recently named one of the best family vacation destinations.
The travel publication Islands named Cape May, New Jersey, one of the 15 best cities in the U.S. for family vacations.
Cape May
Editors for Islands praise Cape May for offering a fun, East Coast beach destination that all families can enjoy. “With scenic, clean beaches, lots to see within walking distance, and gorgeous Victorian-style homes, Cape May is idyllic, charming, and the perfect destination for all age groups,” the magazine said.
Located on New Jersey's most southern point, Cape May offers families an ideal setting for a summer vacation. The boardwalk has delicious places to grab a bite to eat, all within easy access to the sand and surf. In addition to the beach, the Cape May Zoo and the Lighthouse provide additional points of interest.
The luxury vacation home real estate source Pacaso named Cape May County one of the top 20 luxury vacation home markets in the United States. According to Pacaso, the county ranks No. 1 among the best vacation home destinations. That's due to its high proportion of second homes to primary homes in the market.
Cape May's location makes it easy for residents of Philadelphia and New York City to drive to the town. And to explore its surrounding area.
According to Pacaso's report, in 2023, the county was named to the mid-year top second home market list. And featured as the highest-priced second home real estate market on the list. Although Cape May County did not retain this recognition in 2024, the average vacation home price in the country is still above $1 million.
Speaking about the destinations on its list, Pacaso CEO and co-founder Austin Allison said, “These aren't just weekend getaways anymore—they're lifestyle investments for people looking to create endless cherished memories with friends and family.”
