Celebrating the 55th Woodstock Anniversary
During the weekend of August 15th-17th 1969 the focal point of the rock and roll universe was focused on Max Yasgur's dairy farm in Bethel, New York. The grounds that weekend hosted what was dubbed "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music". With almost half a million people in attendance (and that one uncle who claimed he was but really wasn't) it became one of the most legendary events in history. We speak of course about The Woodstock Music and Art Fair and we celebrate today we celebrate the 55th Woodstock anniversary.
Woodstock Meets MMR
Much like Woodstock, WMMR has been interwoven into the fabric of the great history of rock and roll. At the time of the original Woodstock, MMR had already been on the air for almost a year and a half. Those attending the weekend festivities and picked up the official Woodstock program would've flipped the pages and found an ad for The Marconi Experiment and WMMR.
Throughout the halls of the living museum that is the MMR Studios we have such an amazing selection of memorabilia. Everything from signed guitars, gold records, concert posters and plenty of smiling faces of rockstar and disc jockey alike. In our green room area we do have a few pieces from the original Woodstock which you can check out below to celebrate a far-out Woodstock anniversary!
WMMR Ad in Woodstock Program

Believe it or not there was in fact an official Woodstock program. In between seeing sets and avoiding the brown acid, you could've thumbed through it and seen an official WMMR advertisement for The Marconi Experiment. This particular example even managed to avoid the rain and mud.
Original Woodstock Tickets

There was indeed a price to pay to be in attendance for this legendary weekend. Turns out it was just 8 bucks a day!
Jimi Hendrix Closing Woodstock

One of the most iconic moments of Woodstock was Jimi Hendrix closing the festival. Photographer Henry Diltz captured this imagine during Jimi's set and signed a copy for WMMR
"A Lot of Freaks!"

During his set at Woodstock, Arlo Guthrie looked out into the crowd and said those iconic words. A selection of those freaks are always on display in Studio R when the Vinyl Cut is played.
Celebrating Woodstock's Anniversary on Vinyl

Not one but two Woodstock offerings can be found in the MMR vinyl music library. They include the official soundtrack from the 1970 documentary and the 50th anniversary edition.
