The “Bad Boys from Boston” Aerosmith brought their ‘Peace Out! Farewell Tour’ on Long Island at UBS Arena on Saturday night. This was stop #3 on their 40+ date “Farewell” tour, which kicked-off right here in Philadelphia, part of a WMMR Concert Event over Labor Day Weekend. The Chris & Rich Robinson led Black Crowes opened up the night with a hit-packed set.
This was also my first time visiting the brand-new UBS Arena in Elmont, NY on Long Island, home of the New York Islanders NHL team. The venue, which replaced the legendary Nassau Coliseum, opened to the public in 2021.
I had a completely different vantage point at this show than I did at the Wells Fargo Center show last week. This time around, I was behind the stage, but a bit closer to the action comparted to last week. If you’d like to additionally check out photos and videos from the Philly show, you can view them here.
The Aerosmith Long Island setlist was a little bit different than the Philly kick-off show. For the most part, the song selections were the same, the order in which they fell was a bit different. The additions and tour debut of the Rufus Thomas song “Walking the Dog” and “Bright Light Fright” off of Aerosmith’s 1977 album Draw the Line. Like on the album, Joe Perry handled the vocal duties on “Bright Light Fright,” marking the first time the song was played live at an Aerosmith show in almost 30 years!
As the “Bad Boys from Boston” were wrapping up their evening with a rousing rendition of “Walk This Way,” the crew brought out a cake for Joe Perry. The whole arena also sang “Happy Birthday” to Perry ahead of his 73rd birthday the next day, September 10th.
Overall, Aerosmith had worked out all of the “kinks” from the tour kick-off here in Philadelphia exactly one week prior. They sounded fantastic, as they continue to celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band.
