Pierre's Vinyl Cut: Every afternoon around 2:15ish, Pierre Robert sneaks down to WMMR's Studio R, the only one left with a working record player, to play a song (or two or three) on vinyl. Tune in to hear the beautiful crackle of the record and the thrilling tale Pierre shares about the artist.

Today's vinyl cut album is 'The River' from Bruce Springsteen in honor of him kicking off the tour tomorrow with the E Street Band in Tampa. The full band will be here in Philly, March 16th at The Big Joint. I played 'Out in the Street' & 'Cadillac Ranch'. Looking at the insert reminds me of Casey, Jacky & Kyle's cross country road trip last year!

Some of the lyrics for today's vinyl cut,  Truckin', were inspired by an event that happened today in 1970. Every member of the Grateful Dead except for Pigpen, was arrested for possession of Marijuana in New Orleans. Shocking!

On this day in 1987, Slippery When Wet from the amazing Bon Jovi was at #1 on the charts. MMR played it on vinyl then, when it was new ,and we are still playing it (even on vinyl) today!

Celebrating co-founder of Steely Dan, Donald Fagan's 75th birthday today on vinyl. Tough choice with so many songs but I went with "My Old School" and "Reelin' In The Years," great fun!

From roughly 10:30am to somewhere around 3 (we call it Pierre Standard Time) weekdays Philadelphia rocks with (and loves) Pierre Robert on WMMR. Pierre Robert began his illustrious career at the pioneering progressive rock station KSAN, in his hometown San Francisco, but it’s through his uninterrupted 42-year tenure at Philadelphia‘s legendary WMMR that he’s made his mark. One of the city’s most recognizable celebrities will write about being at the center of its live music scene and greeting his legions of fans as if personal friends in the smallest clubs and largest stadiums.
